Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #11

Howdy all and happy happy Friday !!     For this challenge it was (52) Effect Powders.   This project was very hard for me because all I had were two of Tim's distress embossing powders.   I only have 4 more days left of my 30 day shopping fast and I couldn't buy anything else so I had to make a run of it with what I had.   Turned into an epic fail, but hopefully I get credit for at least trying  :)

I started out wanting to make a burlap canvas, had an idea in my head .. but it just wouldn't jump out of my head and land on paper the way I wanted it to .. so I scrapped the canvas idea .. here were the beginnings of that

I used modeling paste and layering stencils to create some texture on the background which looked pretty cool, but there was just too much space for the wording .. so I knocked down to a 4x6, but that wasn't enough room.   So let's start over

I liked the lady on the guys shoulders because my hubs is a weight lifter and it just makes me think of us.  So I layered some more Tim Ephemra with it and it looked good ... I need a layering class .. love to do it, but I just get stuck after a couple things .. any who .. so I got me a kraft tag and used the Stripes layering stencil with modeling paste to add the texture to the background. 

So I added my stack of layers and the heart which is done with the effect powder .. kinda I guess .. I used the embossing powder and then used some walnut stain distress ink to kinda give it an antiqued effect, which really didn't work as well as I planned ..so I tried to add some gold paint to try to help it out a bit, but it still didn't really give me what I was going for ..I really tried to make it work with the product I had.   Believe me come October 1st I'll be buying me some other colors that actually give the effects I was trying to get.    Here is the finished product.
