Simon Says Challenge - Theme .. DISTRESS !!!

Happy Happy Friday all !!!     Ok, last week I missed the deadline for the Simon Says Monday Challenge .. I was shopping in Chicago  :)    This weeks theme is "distress".     I love Tim Holtz's distress and have plenty of it to use.

I didn't take many pictures because I really didn't think anything would come together, but it did .. so not many pictures showing the progress of the project.    I started with a new technique I found off the Gelli Arts facebook page.   I love gelli art and printing on my gelli plate.   This technique was from awdml.com.   It's a resist technique.    You slather gel medium on the gelli plate, lay your stencil down, lay the paper down and brayer across the top.    You can air dry or use a heat gun.

Then I added distress stains, Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry and Evergreen Bough.  I rolled that on the paper and it looked like this .. pretty cool .........

I layered it on top of one of Tim Holt'z burlap canvas's.  I distresses the edges and added some walnut stain distress ink.    And then I began to make it look like something .. here is the finished project ...
The clock is from Tim's ephemera pack - Expedition.   Pretty much everything is from Tim Holtz, the label letters and the Alpha Parts Framed.     I would of liked the clock to be smaller so it didn't cover up the cool bright background, but I like it worked out.

Thanks for stopping in for a look .......... Happy Crafting !!!

  1. This is a wonderful creation! The background is so filled with blended color goodness and I really like how you set it all on top of the "messy" burlap panel. I like seeing the rough white edges in the background, layered with the bright colors. And that sentiment! SO important and something that I need to remind myself of often. Everything about this piece is inspiring, both in terms of art and sentiment. Beautiful work and I'm so glad you shared it with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
