Compendium of Curiosities 3 - Challenge Project

I've started to participate in another challenge.   This one is based off Tim Holtz's book Compendium of Curiosities volume 3.   It's a bi-weekly challenge that revolves around one of his techniques in the book.   You can go to   for all the details of the challenge.  You can win awesome prizes from Tim Holtz, Inspiration Emporium and The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

This challenge was technique #43 ...  Paint Marbling.   If you need to know the how to then you can go to and purchase an autographed copy.   I cut 4 ATC cards using Tim's sizzix die.   The colors I chose were .. picked raspberry, mowed lawn, salty ocean and mustard seed.   I decided I wanted to smoosh (technical term .. lol) into modeling paste, a technique I used on a Donna Downey canvas I did.   So I layered the modeling paste and then placed the cards on top.   I pushed modeling paste from center to edge in order to create a frame or lip of sorts around the card.

Here's a closer look at the texture the paste created ................

Once the modeling paste dried I used mustard seed distress stain and went over the white paste.  I used Tim's word play sizzix die and cut out "live in the now" from his mirrored paper.   I put the words on the cards and this is what I came up with.

I took some walnut stain distress ink to dull down the yellow some.   I added some jute string and it's ready to hang on the wall.

So there it is .. my entry for the CC3 challenge.   Just another reason for me to make time to create.

Thanks for stopping in for a look ... Happy Crafting !!!!
